Statewide curfew on indoor dining
Gov. Phil Murphy announced new measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 as cases surge across the state.
Bars, restaurants, lounges, casinos, and clubs must cease indoor dining by 10 p.m. Outdoor dining, takeout, and delivery may continue past the curfew.
Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla instituted a similar curfew on Oct. 29.
The state prohibits barside seating at all hours.
For indoor dining, tables can be closer together than six feet if barriers are erected between tables.
Interstate youth indoor tournaments and games are prohibited.
“New Jersey is back at levels we thought we left behind months ago,”Murphy said.
NBPD marks No-Shave November
Members of the North Bergen Police Department will again participate in the fundraiser “No Shave November” to fight colorectal cancer. In an end-of-month “shave-off,” beards go bye-bye.
Central Ave. businesses to distribute tote bags
Jersey City’s Central Avenue SID Management Corporation will distribute more than 11,000 reusable tote bags from Nov. 28 through the holidays at participating businesses.

McKnight tests positive for COVID-19
State Assemblywoman Angela McKnight said her positive test came after her daughter tested positive.
“I am currently quarantining at home as I have symptoms and need to rest,” she said. “I have begun the contact tracing process to notify everyone who I have come into contact with.”
She and her family will quarantine for 14 days.
Jersey City Council approves settlement
Jersey City will pay Jersey City Police Department Lieutenant Kelly Chesler over half a million dollars, afrer the city council approved the settlement.
Chesler filed suit against the city, the city council, and several local officials in November of 2018 for back pay and legal fees after she was suspended from the department without pay and denied legal defense following a 2016 indictment.
In 2018, the charges were dismissed.
In August, the city was ordered to pay Chesler $626,211.09 in attorney fees and costs.
In the settlement the city has agreed on a figure of $600,0000.

Veterans parking in North Bergen
Two parking spots will be reserved for veterans outside VFW Post 2648 on 81st Street.
The new spots help define North Bergen as a Veteran Friendly Community, opening opportunities for grant funding.
