The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide unit has charged Jersey City resident Rand March, 65, with the murder of his 67-year-old girlfriend with whom he shared an apartment.
On Monday, Nov. 23, just before 2 p.m., Jersey City police officers responded to an apartment on Court House Place to perform a welfare check on a senior resident.
When officers entered the apartment, they found a lifeless female, later identified as Kimberly Haston, on the floor with an apparent laceration to her neck.
Haston was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 3:52 p.m.
The findings of the Regional Medical Examiner are pending, but March, who shared the apartment with Haston, was in the apartment at the time, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
He was taken into custody by police officers and charged in connection with Haston’s death at approximately 4 p.m. on Nov. 23.
According to the HCPO, March is charged with Murder, a first-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (knife) for an Unlawful Purpose, a third-degree crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife), a fourth-degree crime.
The above charges are merely accusations. March is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
