The new COVID-19 testing center that recently opened in North Bergen’s Braddock Park has met the demand successfully, adding an extra day to the schedule, according to the township.
North Bergen opened the new testing site in response to the recent massive spike in cases. As of Nov. 23, there were 4,373 cases and 238 deaths.
Quick and efficient
Starting on Nov. 25, the site will be open on Wednesdays. That means the location will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, from 12 to 6 p.m.
Nearly 900 people have gotten tested in its first two days of operation, according to the township. Fast processing is ensured for both walk-up and drive-thru customers.
The site operates out of the Bruin Stadium parking lot. No appointment is necessary. Like the two other sites in the township, testing here is free for North Bergen residents. There is no out-of-pocket cost for township residents and no insurance copay.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Township Commissioners have partnered with healthcare providers to make sure this free testing is readily available. They urge everyone to get tested.
Mayor Sacco visited the new center on its first day, Nov. 19 to, ensure everything was working smoothly.
Drive-thru and walk-up customers were processed quickly by a large staff of medical professionals. No appointments were required, and wait times were short.
Joining the mayor in launching the new site were Commissioners Hugo Cabrera and Julio Marenco, County Commissioner Anthony Vainieri, Township Administrator Chris Pianese, EMS Chief David Prina, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Executive Director Michael DeOrio, and others.
There are two other free testing site available by appointment only with proof of residency.
