A Union City man has been arrested for possession of child pornography, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

On Nov. 23, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Felix Martinez, 45.

He was arrested on charges that he allegedly possessed more than 1,000 images of child pornography on his cell phone.

Martinez has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Pornography, a second-degree crime.

He was arrested at his home in Union City after a court-authorized search warrant for the residence was executed.

The arrest followed an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit following cyber tips and information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest.

Anyone wishing to report a sex crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) at 201-915-1234.

The above charges are merely accusations. Martinez is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
