Children can write letters to Santa and drop them in a special mailbox in front of City Hall, at 630 Avenue C.
Chief of Police Robert Geisler has announced the implementation of a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) checkpoint in the area of John F. Kennedy Blvd. starting on Dec. 19 between 8 p.m.. and 4 a.m.
The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the State Division of Highway Traffic Safety to combat statewide DUI.
Winter Skateboard Camp
The Division of Recreation will hold Winter Skateboard Camp at 1st Street Skate Park, weather permitting, Dec. 26; Jan. 2 and 9, from 10 to 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Alleged camera theft
Nasir Holland was taken into custody after being identified as the alleged actor of two thefts reported by Lowe’s Home Improvement, according to the Bayonne Police Department.
On Oct. 18, a person allegedly removed the camera head units from two live view camera stations in the parking lot, estimated at $12,000.
Another camera, valued at $6,000, was reported stolen on Dec. 6, bringing the value to $18,000.
An investigation by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau led to the discovery that the cameras were at a residence in the area of 25th St. and Avenue A, where detectives encountered Holland allegedly in possession of the cameras.
