Funeral services have been held for Mattie Pearl Sullivan Nicholson, known as “Pearl.” She was born to Cleophas Sullivan Sr. and Fannie Griffin Sullivan on May 20, 1945. She was born in the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City. Pearl attended and graduated from the Jersey City Board of Ed. After High School, she matured and had her children, Jerome, Doris, Nathaniel (Nate) and Lawrence Jason, and as a single parent raised four successful adults. Pearl was a member at Monumental Baptist Church in Jersey City. Pearl was predeceased by her parents; sisters: Neatha Fields, Emma Murphy, Patricia Hunter; brothers: Curtis, Billy, Howard Sullivan. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Jerome, Doris, Nathaniel (Charlene) and Lawrence (Tawanda) Nicholson. Ten Grandchildren, Courtney M. Newton- Thirakune, Stefannie A. Nicholson, Ames X. Thomas, Jada A. Nicholson, Jasmine K. Nicholson, Brandon Nicholson, Adrianna J. Nicholson, De’Breon Nicholson, Jayceon Nicholson and Savion Nicholson. Her brothers and sisters: Cleophas Sullivan Jr. (Joe), Lula Young, Margie Moore and Ronald Sullivan (Ronnie). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family as well as adopted sons, daughters, grands and special friends (Mary, Lucille & Crystal of Lafayette St).
