JOHN KELLY

A memorial service will be held in the future for retired Deputy Chief of Police John (Jack) Kelly, 85. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Jan. 27. He was a lifelong resident of Weehawken, fan of the New York Yankees and Giants and old westerns. The son of Margaret and Martin Kelly, he married his high school sweetheart Marie, and settled in Weehawken to raise his family of Kelly girls. He was a husband, dad and grandpa. After 32 years of marriage, Marie passed and he later found love once again and spent 20 years with Terry Ulrich, until her passing. Jack honorably served his hometown as a Weehawken police officer for over 37 years, eventually retiring in 2000 as the Deputy Chief, a job that he truly loved. Jack is survived by his four daughters and son-in-laws Nancy and Frank Goodstein, Patti and Bill Engel, Kathy and Jimmy Iodice, and Sharon and Tony Amaniera, along with 5 grandchildren Kelly, Brian, Samantha, Melissa, and Megan. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Weehawken Volunteer First Aid Squad or your favorite charity in his memory. Leber Funeral Home in Union City will be handling his final arrangements (www.leber-fh.com).
