Spring Day Camp

The Division of Recreation will hold Spring Break Day Camp at the 16th Street Park Upper Level, April 5 to 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting.

Bayonne children in the 1st through 8th grades, $60 per camper.

Bayonne celebrates Black History Month

In recognition of Black History Month, a Virtual Contest showcasing different genres of the Visual & Performing Arts will air on the Donald Byrd Cultural Foundation website via Zoom. Viewing is free. Contestants are invited to submit videos in either the Visual or Performing Arts Categories. Cash prizes will be awarded. The contest is open to all ages.

Submission Deadline is February 28. For contest Rules and Entry Form log on to: donaldbyrdculturalfoundation.org. Man trapped in shipping container lift

Firefighters rescued a man in an accident involving a shipping container lift, according to Bayonne Deputy Fire Chief Bill Bartos.

On Feb. 14, the Bayonne Fire Department was dispatched to Global Terminals on Port Jersey Blvd.

Units found a heavy-duty container lift tipped over onto a stack of containers. The equipment operator was trapped inside the lift.

He was removed with an aerial bucket and transported to Bayonne Medical Center with apparently minor injuries.

Register for Spring Pre-K Flag Football

The Division of Recreation is holding registration for Spring Pre-K Flag Football for Bayonne children, $25 per player.

Games will be played Tuesdays and or Thursdays,4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m., Gorman Field.

NJ DOH & CDC Guidelines will be followed.

Deadline is March 19.  Applications must be returned to City Hall Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
