Hudson County launches COVID-19 vaccine awareness campaign

Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise launched a new public awareness campaign featuring county residents, designed to increase acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines, particularly in communities of color.

The first video features Hudson County Director of Health & Human Services Darice Toon talking about why she decided to get the vaccine.

“Darice Toon’s message to Hudson County residents is both simple and powerful: ‘trust the science, be a part of the solution,’ and I commend her for speaking out about this incredibly important issue,” DeGise said. “In order to beat back this pandemic, we will need as many people as possible to get vaccinated, and that means confronting some very real and historically justified fears, particularly in Black and Latino communities. That’s exactly why this campaign is so important and why we are excited to start it today.”

The Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center opened in December and is operated by the Hudson Regional Health Commission and overseen by County Executive Tom DeGise’s Vaccine Task Force, which includes representatives from the Hudson County Improvement Authority, the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management, County Department of Roads and Public Property, the Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

The center is at the USS Juneau Center at 110 Hackensack in Kearny.
