A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 9 at St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City, for Mark George Matsikoudis, 68. He died on Feb. 2 after a valiant fight with cancer. Mark was born and raised in Jersey City and came to love his new home in Sea Bright. He graduated from Marist High school, where he played baseball and soccer, and graduated from St. Peters University. Mark worked for the City of Jersey City before launching a decades-long career as a real estate appraiser. Mark enjoyed the cinema and he loved to read about history and sports. He was true blue Mets fans from their inception in 1962 when he attended his first Major League Baseball game at the Polo Grounds. Mark deeply enjoyed family gatherings where he would celebrate holidays, birthdays, graduations, and any other reason to enjoy a good meal, debate sports, history, and politics and share jokes. Mark was a most generous man that was always reliable in extending a helping hand. Mark was predeceased by his mother Eileen and his father Elpidoforos. He is survived by his siblings Phillip (sister-in-law Susan), Eileen (brother-in-law George), Carol, Kathy (brother–in-law Glenn), John (sister-in-law Michelle) and Bill (sister-in-law Elsa), and eight nieces and nephews.
