Man fatally shot in BJ’s parking lot in Jersey City


Law enforcement seeks information regarding a fatal shooting in downtown Jersey City Feb. 28.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, on Sunday, Feb. 28, at about 8:18 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to BJ’s Parking Lot on Marin Blvd. and Second St. in Jersey City on reports of a shooting.

Officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The victim, later identified as Christian Parra, 34, of Jersey City, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Parra was pronounced dead at 9 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating this case.

No arrests have been made at this time.
