JOSEPH E. CALLANDRILLO

Funeral services were held March 8 for Joseph E. Callandrillo, 94, of Jersey City. He passed away March 3. Joseph was born in Jersey City to the late Anthony and Catherine Callandrillo. He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Theresa. His caring sister, Theresa Lanni. His loving sons Anthony Callandrillo and his wife Jessica, and Philip Callandrillo and his wife Jane. His cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Christina and by many nieces and nephews. His Late sisters, Mable and Marie, and grandson William will be with him now. He was a World War II US Navy Veteran Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class with the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal, European Theatre Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal, serving on the SS Montana. He was a member of the American Legion and supporter of the US Navy Memorial in Washington DC. His love for his country was unquestionable. He worked for the Foster Wheeler Corp in the Condenser Department for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was involved with the scouts for many years and was a Boy Scout Master for Troop 81 in Jersey City. He was a Christ Hospital volunteer in the ER for 25 years, and a SHIP programs volunteer. He received many awards for his service to his community, including being honored by the Hudson County Lions Club. He was Committeeman for the JC Heights Block Association back in the day and a member of the Saint Anne’s Holy Name Society. He was an all around good guy, fun loving and loved by all.
