Secaucus has been distributing the Moderna vaccine at the Recreation Center at 1200 Koelle Blvd. The first COVID-19 vaccine at the Secaucus POD was administered on Dec. 30. Now the town is offering a second COVID-19 vaccination site at Hudson Regional Hospital (HRH).
Register for the Recreation Center site at secaucusnj.gov/vaccine. Information is on the webpage. Do not call the town.
Secaucus has also been distributing vaccine at its senior buildings. The Secaucus Department of Health, the Secaucus Housing Authority, Town Administration, Senior Services, and the Secaucus Police Department collaborated to bring the vaccine to senior residents who couldn’t make it to the Recreation Center and offered the services of the local police therapy dog to soothe them during and after inoculations.
Vaccine supplies have been limited, but municipalities across the county have been receiving more dosage allotments and have been opening more distribution sites.
A second point of distribution
HRH and Mayor Michael Gonnelli are collaborating to ensure that all Secaucus residents who qualify are registered to receive a COVID-19 vaccination at the hospital, which is at 55 Meadowlands Parkway.
HRH started administering vaccines March 22 by appointment only to qualified Secaucus residents who register through the town’s COVID-19 vaccination representative. Residents should email their names, phone numbers and Secaucus addresses to email@example.com.
Appointments for both shots will be booked upon registration. Non-Secaucus residents can email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the waiting list.
HRH is in talks to become the second countywide vaccination site, according to CEO Dr. Nizar Kifaieh.
Gonnelli and HRH have been working to support residents throughout the pandemic through a number of initiatives, including the hospital’s drive-thru testing site.
The testing site, the first in Hudson County, was established in conjunction with the county government. Residents experiencing symptoms should call 201-388-1097 or 646-862-1161.
