Hoboken mayor condemns violence against Asians
Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla condemned violence against Asian American Pacific Islanders after the eight spa murders in Atlanta, six of whom were Asian women.
“We in Hoboken condemn these abhorrent events and racism in all forms,” Bhalla said.
According to Stop AAPI Hate, Asian Americans have reported 3,795 complaints over the past year.
Jersey City teacher charged with sexual assault of student
Apparao Sunkara 67, a teacher at the Infinity Institute in Jersey City, has been charged with Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child for allegedly sexually assaulting his student, a girl, 11.

The charges are merely accusations. Sunkara is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Menendez opens Jersey City office
Senator Bob Menendez moved his office from Newark to 210 Hudson St. Harborside 3, Suite 1000, reportedly marking the first time in 50 years that a U.S. Senate office has been in Hudson County, ensuring greater access to more constituents.
He was raised in the county, attended Saint Peter’s College, and is a former Union City mayor and school board member.

The Jersey City Vehicle Center is closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, due to reopen on April 1.

A thief at the Welfare Office?
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has charged a Hudson County Welfare Office employee, Herbert Thomas, 55, with 10 counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking for allegedly fraudulently accessing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and making cash withdrawals.
