Division of Recreation receives grant

The Division of Recreation has received a $20,000 grant to expand the Ability Day Program to incorporate new types of fitness classes.

2021 Earth Day cleanup 

It will be on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The city is shifting back to its in-person format, and organizations and individuals may register as teams.

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that contractors are starting street-paving and striping in mid-April.

Library to host autism summit

The Bayonne Free Public Library has announced a “World Autism Month Breakthrough Summit with best-selling author Dr. Kerry Magro,” April 16 from 11 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The program will include panel discussions via Zoom and presentations for educators, therapists, and parents.

Get tested for COVID-19

There is a drive-up site in the parking lot behind Don Ahern Veterans Stadium near the foot of West 25th Street, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Walk-up testing is available.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, testing is from 1 to 7 p.m.; on Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No appointments needed. For more information, go to immcare.com.

Residents with an appointment from their physicians can be tested at BMC.

The RiteAid at 54th Street and Broadway offers free drive-thru testing for residents over 18. Visit riteaid.com. No prescription required.

CityMD at 904 Bayonne Crossing Way offers tests for walk-ins only; call 551-497-5675.

Residents can get tested at Broadway Care Pharmacy at 516 Broadway (201-437-5100), and Total Care Pharmacy at 596 Broadway (201-535-5080).

Testing is available from Dr. Ahab Gabriel at 449 Ave. C, (201-374-1103 and Hudson DNA and Testing at 150 Pulaski St. (201 994-6594).
