Distracted Driving Awareness Month
Pam O’Donnell, founder of the Catch You Later Foundation, met with Mayor James Davis and Police Chief Robert Geisler to promote Distracted Driving Awareness Month. O’Donnell became a safe-driving advocate after her husband and daughter were fatally hit by another driver.
Property taxes due May 10
Second-quarter property tax payments are due May 10.
Payments can be placed in the box at City Hall on the left-hand side between the two sets of doors, 630 Ave. C before 4:30 p.m. on the 10th. They can also be paid at Bayonne branches of BCB Community Bank, mailed, or through bayonnenj.org.
Those who handle their property taxes through their mortgage payments should have received advice copies of the bills in the recent tax mailing.

Honoring HCCC nurses
Hudson County Community College student nurses have been helping Bayonne residents get vaccinated at Bayonne Medical Center. Mayor James Davis gave them a shoutout and thank you.
Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be on May 2, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Stephen R. Gregg- Hudson County Park, Lot #1, lower level down the road and down the hill from the 48th Street entrance on Kennedy Blvd.

Bayonne mourns loss of vet
A World War II veteran and 100-year-old Bayonne resident has died.
“I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Carmine H. Ianora,” said Mayor James Davis. “He was well-known for his many years of service as a civilian employee and contractor at the Military Ocean Terminal. Many residents also knew Carmine for his expertise with watches and clocks. We would like to extend our condolences to Carmine’s family and friends.”
