Fils Kendamos, 41, was taken into custody on April 23 at 7:39 a.m. from his residence on West 19th Street after being identified as the actor of two counts of Theft by Deception reported on Feb. 10.

On that date, the two victims reported that they each paid Kendamos over $1,000 at different times to enter into a lease on an apartment Kendamos had advertised that he was subletting. When they attempted to call Kendamos to schedule a move-in date, they realized the number was to the landlord who had no knowledge of the subletting. Attempts to contact Kendamos were unsuccessful.

An investigation into the scam was conducted by the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau leading to the arrest of Kendamos.
