The Funeral Liturgy took place May 4 at Ss. George and Shenouda Coptic Orthodox Church, Jersey City for Nabil Adly Iskander, 80, of Jersey City. He passed away at his residence on April 25. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Nabil was the first member of his family to immigrate to the United States in 1969. He is a graduate of Cairo University and received a Master’s Degree from Long Island University in Brooklyn. Nabil worked as an accountant for the New York City Department of Finance for many years before retiring from a management position in 2002. In addition to being a beloved husband and dedicated father, he was a devout member of Ss. George and Shenouda Coptic Orthodox Church. Nabil was devoted to helping others in many ways including sponsoring dozens of Egyptian immigrants seeking better opportunities in the United States. Nabil is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Madeline Iskander; his children Nahed Iskander (Frank), George Iskander (Angelina) and Mark Iskander; his grandchildren Nathaniel Iskander and Nicholas Iskander; his siblings Ezzat Iskander, Treza Iskander and Magdy Iskander; and many nieces and nephews.
