North Bergen has begun vaccinating residents 12 to 15, following approval of the Pfizer vaccine for that age group. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and have parent or guardian consent.
Vaccinating youth comes at an ideal time, with the school district having recently transitioned to a hybrid instruction model, with teachers vaccinated in the runup to the shift. Now students can get vaccinated as they finish the school year.
Vaccinations have been administered at the North Bergen Recreation Center, 6300 Meadowview Avenue. Recently, the township has hit the milestone of 40,000 doses.
To register, call 201-392-2084 or visit northbergenvaccine.org.
The Moderna vaccine is being administered to adults. Recently, North Bergen held a walk-in vaccination clinic in Braddock Park.

‘Shot and a Beer’
The New Jersey Beer Company in North Bergen has joined the state’s “Shot and a Beer” program, which entitles residents who gets their first vaccines in May to receive a free beer.
“Shot and a Beer” was launched in partnership with the Brewer’s Guild of New Jersey, the Governor’s Office, and the Department of Health to encourage eligible New Jerseyans ages 21 and over to get vaccinated. Those who show their vaccination cards indicating their first doses were in May can make a free beer selection.
The New Jersey Beer Company joined the program to help ensure their customers are protected and to applaud their efforts in getting vaccinated. The brewery, at 4201 Tonnelle Ave., has a constantly rotating selection of craft beers. The entrance is between Tonnelle and Dell Avenue.
“Get vaccinated this month, and we’ll thank you with a beer on us,” The New Jersey Beer Company said on social media. “Visit our tasting room, show you were vaccinated in May, and enjoy one of our pints of delicious beer.”
The program will end on May 23. Hours and additional information can be found at njbeerco.com.
