Hudson County Prosecutor to stay
Following a report that Gov. Phil Murphy will submit her name to be re-nominated as Hudson County Prosecutor, Esther Suarez said she plans to continue to hold the position. She’s the first Latina and first woman ever hold the position.
Hudson County launches mobile vax unit
The unit will serve as a popup clinic in county neighborhoods, especially hard-to-reach communities and host onsite clinics for businesses and organizations.
Anyone who lives, works, or studies in Hudson County is eligible to be vaccinated at the USS Juneau Center at 110 Hackensack Ave. in Kearny or at any of the mobile clinics.
Appointments are not required, but can be scheduled by visiting hudsoncovidvax.org.
Hoboken mayor re-ups
Ravi Bhalla will seek a second term. His official campaign launch will be on Thursday, June 24 at 6 pm, outdoors at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten.

Hoboken honors resident
Hoboken honored resident and veteran Charles Shulz, 90, with a proclamation declaring May 31, his birthday, as “Charles Shulz Day.” Born in Hoboken in 1931, he was stationed in England with the U. S. Air Force and was in combat during the Korean War.

On Memorial Day a ribbon cutting was held for the new war memorial in the Veterans area of the Braddock Park.
Second suspect in Jersey City murder apprehended
Omire Rios-Williams, the suspect wanted in connection with the May 3rd fatal shooting of a man, 23, on Princeton Avenue and Brown Place in Jersey City, was arrested in Allentown, Penn. He is being held on murder and weapons charges.
Last month his alleged coconspirator, Shianne Payne-Nanton, was charged with the same offenses.
They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The funds will help provide financial assistance to two children, and funeral arrangements for Elizabeth resident and mother Jazzlyn Terron who was found dead in a Hoboken parking garage at 47 Second on May 30.

The legislation would expand the coordination of Tourette Syndrome research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and develop a new system to collect data and award grants.
Jersey City man pleads guilty to bank fraud
Mamadou Diallo, 44, of Jersey City, admitted his role in a conspiracy that used fake passports to open accounts at victim banks into which he and others deposited phony IRS refund checks, netting over $450,000, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 13.
Hoboken brawlers arrested
Hoboken police officers arrested five men after responding to reports of a large fight on Third and Harrison streets on June 2.
Mickey Mendez, 21, of Jersey City was arrested when he was seen allegedly punching a man. Two other alleged brawlers, Hoboken residents Jamil Rivera, 20, and Kyeise Lopez, 22, were also arrested.
About an hour later, brothers Joseph Crandell, 28 and Keshon Crandell, 21, both of Hoboken, allegedly assaulted a man in the area of Third and Harrison streets and were arrested.
They all face charges of Riot, Disorderly Conduct, and Simple Assault. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
