Second Jersey City man charged in April murder

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit has charged Naseem Rourk, 20, of Jersey City in the death of Rodney Wallace, 21,who was shot on Wilkinson Ave. in Jersey City on April 13.

According to the HCPO, Rourk was charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Aggravated Assault,  Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm.)

On June 10, 2021, a male, 16, was also charged after being arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Gang Intelligence/Violent Crimes Unit inside a store on Old Bergen Rd. in Jersey City.

On April 13, just after 11 p.m., Jersey City Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 162 Wilkinson Ave. in Jersey City.

Officers found a victim, 21, later identified as Rodney Wallace, who had sustained gunshot wound(s) to the upper body. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:44 p.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be gunshot wounds, and the manner of death to be homicide.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for the investigation and arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations. Rourk is presumed innocent until proven guilty
