A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 15 at St. Aedan’s Church, Jersey City, Sherman J. Bligh. He passed away on June 11. A true native son of New Jersey, Sherman was born and raised in Jersey City where he was a graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s University. He proudly served in the United States Army and enjoyed a 40 year career at the New York Daily News where he was an Advertising Sales Executive. Upon his retirement he moved to Manasquan to be close to the Jersey Shore. Sherman was fond of sports and a devoted fan of the NY Giants. He had a keen interest in current affairs and enjoyed lively discussions on a variety of subjects. Sherman was predeceased by his parents John J. and Ellen Bligh; his brother John L. Bligh (Winnie) and nephew John L. Bligh, Jr. (Diane). He is survived by his sister, Sr. Beverly Bligh, S.C.; nieces Ellen DeCorso, Elizabeth Orlando, Patricia Glatman, Mary Romano and Nancy Carey; nephew Christopher Bligh and 14 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friend Andrea Dove. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
