A funeral mass was offered June 25 at Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington, for William M. Hanley, “Bill”, 75, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He died peacefully on June 20 at his home. Before his retirement in 2004, he dedicated 25 years of service to the Jersey City Fire Department where he was stationed at Engine 1 on Morgan Street and later at Engine 6, Truck 2 at Memorial Station. William proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He loved to play golf and poker and watch his favorite sport teams which included the N.Y. Mets, N.Y. Giants and Notre Dame Football. He was the devoted husband of late Margaret M. (nee Stewart), the cherished father of William M. Hanley Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Mark S. Hanley and his wife Donna, the adored grandfather of Ryan, Quinn, Maggie, Teagan, Keira and Riley, the loving brother of John (Rose), James (Cathy), Michael (Diane) and Thomas Hanley, and the dear brother-in-law of Helen Dzubeck (Ronald) and Mary Stewart. He was predeceased by his parents the late James and Helen Hanley, and his siblings Marion Parra, Anna Koch, Joan, Patricia and Joseph Hanley.
