Jersey City hosts Disability-owned Business Certification Seminar

The Jersey City Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host a Disability-owned Business Certification Seminar on September 23 at 10 a.m. The city is teaming up with Disability:IN to teach “about the benefits of certification and start the path to certifying your business.”

Guttenberg Junior Police Academy wraps up

Guttenberg Police Department’s Junior Police Academy hosted 42 kids ages 10 to 13 to learn police work in a one-week regimen that ended on Aug. 28.

All dogs in the Secaucus pool!

On Sept. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Secaucus residents can bring their dogs to the municipal pool at 2000 Koelle Blvd.

Small dogs only from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. All sizes, 12 to 3 p.m.

$10 per dog, which will be donated to The Secaucus Animal Shelter. Cash or Venmo only, no bank cards.

Dogs must have valid rabies tags on, or papers from the vet verifying proof.

Union City skate park to reopen

The Argelio “Pete” A. Marrero Morales Skate Park will reopen on Sept. 10 at 39th Street. Free music, hot dogs, popcorn, water, rides, and activities offered.

Book chosen by North Bergen Book Club

The current selection of the North Bergen Free Public Library’s Virtual Adult Book Club is “Of Women and Salt” by Gabriela Garcia.

The next virtual meeting is at 3 p.m. Sept. 15. Register at nbpl.org/event/september-adult-book-club/.

Pickup is available at the main library and at the Guttenberg Resource Center. The e-book is available on Libby.

Hudson County mayors urge prescription drug reform

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and Bayonne Mayor James Davis along with other New Jersey mayors urged President Biden and Congress to pass prescription drug reform with Medicare negotiations.

The group asked the President and Congress in a letter to give Medicare the ability to negotiate for lower drug prices. Congress is looking to pass a measure via budget reconciliation legislation.
