With over 400,000 children diagnosed each year, the Bayonne Board of Education has adopted a resolution designating that all Bayonne Schools will recognize September as Childhood Cancer Month with September 24 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. The effort has been led by Marie Costantino and Sharon Romano, who lost their sons Anthony Costantino and Michael Romano to cancer.
All students will be asked to wear gold.
Ave E., the City Hall area, and Broadway have ben decorated with gold bows. The community is asked to put up signs that say “GO GOLD.” To purchase a sign, call Fast Signs at 810 Broadway at 201-823-3334.
Report your Ida damage to the state portal
Bayonne initially issued a form for residents to report damages from Hurricane Ida. Since the county and Bayonne have now been added to the Major Disaster Declaration, residents should disregard the form and report damages at www.damagenj-njoem.hub.arcgis.com and apply for FEMA assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov.
Bike club night ride
Cyclers will meet at Stephen Gregg Park, near 48th Street at the lower level for the annual “Night Ride” at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 25.
Beginners and experienced riders of all ages are welcome. Residents can register at city hall weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or at the park the morning of the ride.
