North Bergen to open additional vaccine site

The temporary site is at the uptown library

North Bergen is opening an additional site for residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Quiet Room at the uptown library, at 8411 Bergenline Ave.

Residents can get vaccinated there starting Sept. 14 on Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

No appointment is needed and walk-ins are encouraged. Options are Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. Pfizer is available to everyone age 12 and above. Parental consent is needed for minors.

Per the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), third doses are available of Pfizer or Moderna for individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised. Must show proof of vaccine history. The second dose must have been administered more than four weeks prior to the third dose. The third doses for the general public are not yet approved.

Other locations

Vaccines are available from 3 to 8 p.m. every Thursday at the Braddock Park Farmers Market at Bergenline Avenue and 90th Street.

Vaccines will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Flea Market on Bergenline Avenue adjacent to Braddock Park on Sept. 18, Oct. 16, and Nov. 20.

In North Bergen 71 percent of the adult population is fully vaccinated with 83 percent of adults having received at least one dose.
