Jersey City man found dead in North Bergen

A man was found dead in North Bergen, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating the death of Marquis McCleod, 24, of Jersey City, who was found deceased on the morning of Sept. 9 in a parking lot near 3200 Liberty Avenue in North Bergen.

The lot is adjacent to McKinley Elementary School.

Just prior to 7 a.m., the North Bergen Police Department responded to a report of a deceased male. Officers found the lifeless victim, later identified as McCleod, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:24 a.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
