Honoring Ida Zeik

On Sunday, Sept. 26, a commemoration honoring Principal Ida Zeik was held at Lincoln Elementary School. The alumni of the school’s 8th grade Class of 1964 were influenced by her devotion to art, science, culture, and civic graciousness.

A plaque and a projector for the school were presented to current principal Keith Makowski and Bayonne Mayor James Davis.

A reunion at the Da Vinci room followed with classmates from seven states. I

Youth volleyball starts

Indoor Youth Volleyball Clinics begin Oct. 9., Saturdays through Oct. 30 from, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the BHS Main Gym.

Fee is $25 per child. Register at City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Prosecutor’s Office investigating officer-involved shooting

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating shots fired and a vehicle pursuit that occurred in Bayonne in the area of Hobart Ave. and East 5th Street. No other information was available at press time.

Pick up of leaves

The pickup of fall leaves will occur on ten Mondays, beginning Oct. 11 and ending December 13.

Leaves may be placed in ecology-friendly leaf bags, barrels, or in paper bags. Plastic bags are unacceptable.

The ecology-friendly bags can be picked up at the front doors of City Hall, the 4th Street Senior Center, and the 56th Street
Senior Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, except
holidays.

The 4th Street Senior Center is at 16 West 4th Street and Story Court. The 56th Street Senior Center is at 56th Street and Avenue B.
