JOSEPH C. VanHEUMAN

A memorial mass was offered Oct. 16 at Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus for Joseph C. vanHeumen, age 71, of Secaucus. He passed away July 16. Originally from Nimagegen, Holland, he was born on March 24, 1950, to the late Cornelius and Emma (Mayer) vanHeumen. Joseph arrived in the United States at the age of 10 and resided in Hoboken. He was employed by Verizon for over 50 years. He married the love of his life, Denise (Halpin) in 1973 and soon after moved to Secaucus to raise his family. After raising his children, he and Denise traveled frequently, with Aruba being their favorite island to return to. Every May they returned to their “Happy Island” to make new memories and enjoy each other’s company. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise, his children Jason and his wife Jessica, Tara, and his “adopted daughter” Robynne, his cherished grandchildren Cassidy, Sarah, Nathan, Jeremy, and numerous foster grandchildren; his brother Edward and sister Regina; his sister-in-laws Mickey, Paulette, and Kathy, his brother-in-laws Mike and Raymond; nephews Matthew and Michael. He was predeceased by his brother Corey. He was exceedingly proud of his children, loved his family without limits, and his greatest joy was knowing that all he loved were happy. Joseph was a man you were lucky to know and blessed to be loved by. He will be forever missed. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
