Youth Open Gym Basketball

The Division of Recreation has announced Youth Open Gym Basketball at the Bayonne High School Korpi Ice Rink Basketball gym, every Saturday evening in January, from 6 to 8 p.m. Open gym is open to Bayonne residents only, for children in the 2nd to 8th grade. The Division of Recreation will lower several baskets to 8 feet. Other baskets will remain at 10 feet.

Open Gym Dates include Jan. 8, 15, 22, and 29. $5.00 per session, which will be collected at the gym. Cash or checks may be accepted. Checks made out payable to City of Bayonne. For more information, contact Pete Amadeo at 201-858-6129 or email bayonnerec@aol.com.

Skateboarding with Santa

The Division of Recreation Skateboard Program will meet from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the 1st Street Skate Park for skateboarding with Santa. Bring an unwrapped, new toy to be donated to Mayor James Davis’ Toy Drive and receive a free skate lesson.

Roadway improvements slated for Avenue A

Bayonne will receive $821,963 in state grants for the Fiscal Year 2022 for roadway improvements, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced.

A major focus of the repaving program will be Avenue A, from North Street to 20th Street, and from 26th Street until it the street merges with Kennedy Boulevard, according to Mayor James Davis.

New date and time for ‘BOUNCE OUT THE STIGMA’

Division of Recreation Special Needs Sports Program in conjunction with the Junior NBA Program of the Year, will host the “BOUNCE OUT THE STIGMA” program on Dec. 12 from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Bayonne High School Korpi Ice Rink Gym. The program will geared for kids and young adults with the challenges of Autism, ADHD, Epilepsy, Neurological Disorders, Spectrum Diagnosis, and mental, emotional, or physical challenges.
