“And so this is Christmas”?

Dear Editor:

We come to a holiday season plagued by the virus.

People are frustrated; they sneer and snarl at each other. Disdainful remarks replace cheerful holiday greetings.

Christmas never was about shopping at the stores. Dr. Seuss told us: “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store, maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”

The Yuletide Spirit is about reflection, remembrance. and reconciliation. Christmas is about compassion for the past, determination and resolution for the present, and an unyielding optimism for the future.

Christmas gives each of us an opportunity to reflect on those who play; and, sorrowfully, those who have played, an important part of our lives.

Indeed, Christmas in the air puts Christmas in the heart.

We need to keep that in mind this holiday season.
