North Bergen has issued a mask requirement in all public buildings, strongly urging residents to wear a mask in all indoor venues, according to Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners. The move comes amid the surge in COVID-19 cases soar in New Jersey.
To accommodate the increased demand, the township has also expanded its COVID-19 vaccination and testing capabilities as the county grapples with the Omicron variant surge.
The offerings include two new pop-up testing centers including a new vaccine site, mask mandate in public buildings, and public outreach communications urging residents to get vaccinated and boosted and to wear masks when indoors.
“Cases are currently surging across the country and North Bergen is no different, so we want to make sure we are offering our residents the support they need to get through this difficult time and protect themselves and their families,” said Sacco. “The most important thing we can all do right now is get vaccinated, or if you are already vaccinated get your booster shot to make sure you have the best possible protection from the virus.”
