Firefighters hired and promoted

In December, the Bayonne Fire Department held a graduation ceremony for thirteen new firefighters. At the same event, Michael Mullane and Gustavo Caamano were promoted to the rank of Captain.

The new firefighters are Keith Ribbecke, Michael Nolan, Christopher Regan, Brian Johnston, Matthew Lojewski, Michael Cotter, Jonathan McHugh, Matthew Nowak, Jacob McNamara, Shannon Hester, Matthew O’Hara, Erik Lyman, and Mitesh Patel. They are graduates of the Bergen County Fire Academy, and have also received training from the Bayonne Fire Department.

New testing site

Beginning on Jan. 10, the city will offer rapid COVID-19 testing at the Mount Carmel Parish Center on Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The testing is by appointment only, at 201-537-4818. The site is located on East 22nd, behind the church.

PCR testing at museum

PCR testing will continue at Bayonne Community Museum at 229 Broadway on Thursdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by appointment only. To make an appointment, go online to solvhealth/book-online/0rwaOA.com.

The city is asking that only those who are symptomatic or who have been directly exposed to the virus should seek testing, due to the limited demand.
