A 12-year-old girl from Bayonne was arrested after she was allegedly involved in multiple crashes in a stolen vehicle, according to the Bayonne Police Department.
On Jan. 29, officers on patrol monitored a “Be On the Lookout” broadcast for a vehicle that had just been involved in a hit and run crash in the area of 46th Street and Broadway. Police said the vehicle had also been reported stolen out of Jersey City.
The officers then came upon the vehicle in the area 10th Street and Avenue E and attempted to stop the vehicle. Upon activating their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, police said the vehicle accelerated and ultimately crashed into a light pole on North Street.
As the officers investigated, they made contact with the driver, a 12 year-old female juvenile. The female juvenile was taken into custody at 12:59 p.m. from the area of North Street.
According to police, the girl suffered a minor injury as a result of the crash. She was charged with receiving stolen property and eluding.
No other details were released.
