Hoboken will launch a series of community engagement sessions with public safety officials this week to increase awareness of public safety initiatives and education campaigns.
The Community and Public Safety forums, aka Hoboken CAPS, will bring community members together for open discussion with a number of public safety divisions, with members from each division giving a short presentation on current trends in the city as related to their division, as well as public safety tips.
Divisions such as the Office of Emergency Management, Police and Fire Departments, and the Volunteer Ambulance Corp. will be brought together for the forums. They will be hosted by Public Safety Director Ken Ferrante and Councilman Joe Quintero, and will be held every other month.
“The essence of strong community and public safety relations is community engagement,” said Ferrante in a statement. “After over two years of these types of in-person community events being halted by the pandemic, it is time to re-engage face-to-face.”
The forums will be held at various times and locations throughout the city. Free coffee and pastries will be offered to attendees at each event.
The first forum will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at Johnny Pepperoni’s at 219 11th St. from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
