Hoboken gears up programs for summer recreation

City will be hosting programs such as gymnastics, baseball and arts classes

With summer underway in Hoboken, the city is hosting a number of recreation programs, ranging from gymnastics, baseball and kids’ arts and craft classes.

The gymnastics and baseball clinics will take place from July 11 to Aug. 12. The gymnastics clinics will offer children between 5-12 years old one class per week at the Multi Service Center at 124 Grand St.. Clinics will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.

The baseball clinics will be for those 6-9 years old and 10-12 years old on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Little League Field at 5th and Hudson Streets. For more information, email recreation@hobokennj.gov.

The city is also hosting Arts in the Park, a five-week outdoor, creative arts program for children 1-4 years old, which includes crafts, story time, music and sing-alongs. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Elysian Park and Wednesdays in Stevens Park beginning the week of July 12. The following schedules are:

Tuesdays at Elysian Park

  • 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. – July 12, 19 & 26, Aug. 2 & 9
  • 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. – July 12, 19 & 26, Aug. 2 & 9
  • 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. – July 12, 19 & 26, Aug. 2 & 9

Wednesdays at Stevens Park

  • 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. – July 13, 20 & 27, Aug. 3 & 10
  • 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. – July 13, 20 & 27, Aug. 3 & 10
  • 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. – July 13, 20 & 27, Aug. 3 & 10

Thursdays at Elysian Park

  • 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. – July 14, 21 & 28, Aug. 4 & 11
  • 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. – July 14, 21 & 28, Aug. 4 & 11
  • 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. – July 14, 21 & 28, Aug. 4 & 11

Children can only attend the class for which they are registered for. Those that miss classes will not be offered a makeup class. If a class is canceled due to inclement weather, the city will send an email about a makeup date, which will usually take place on Fridays at either park.

The cost for participants is $45 for five (45-minute session) classes. Registration is available at www.hobokennj.gov/register.

The city is also hosting free summer programs such as Fitness in the Park and the Concerts in the Park series.
