Bayonne Library expands Summer Reading Program and moves it online

All ages can now participate using any device

This year, Bayonne Public Library is moving the Summer Reading Program online and expanding it to all ages.

From babies to adults, the library has a summer reading program for everyone. All age levels are eligible to earn prizes when they log their reading or participate in activities at the library.

Prizes are different for each age range and vary from Pop-Its and Pop Sockets to beach bags and sand pails and shovels. Some prizes even come from local businesses like Clutch Moto (@officialclutchmoto on Instagram) and Rudo Plants (@rudoplants.home on Instagram).

Summer Reading Program starts soon

The program begins on June 24. From that date until September 6, residents can log their reading and participate in activities. Participants can create a Beanstack account before June 24, but will not be able to log anything until that day.

Regardless of location or how many readers in a household, registration and logging are simple. Go to the library’s Beanstack website at bayonnelibrary.beanstack.com or download the Beanstack app from a device’s app store.

Click or tap “Register an individual or family,” then fill in the corresponding. information. Beanstack allows families to be linked together, so all family members can be accessed with one log-in.

When the participant gets a message on their screen that they’ve earned a prize, come to the Children’s Room for children and teens or the Reference Room for adults and the library will help redeem prizes. Prizes can be redeemed as they are earned or all at once.

For help registering, logging, or troubleshooting an issue, email Outreach Librarian Melody Scagnelli-Townley at mtownley@bayonnelibrary.org, or visit the Reference Room or the Children’s Room for assistance in person. If possible, bring the device or devices that Beanstack is to be used on.
