The Bayonne Board of Education will hold an election on Tuesday, November 8, according to Board Secretary Gary Maita. Four seats on the nine member board will be on the ballot.
Three seats are available for a term of three years each. The terms of Trustees Lisa Burke, Jan Patrick Egan, and Denis Wilbeck are expiring.
One seat is available for a term of one year. Trustee Hector Gonzalez, Jr.’s term is expiring. Gonzalez was appointed in January of this year to fill the seat left vacant by former Trustee David “Doc” Watson after he moved out of town for family reasons and resigned.
The last day to file to run is Monday, July 25. According to the most recent unofficial master list of candidates kept by the Hudson County Clerk’s Office, no one has filed petitions to run in the election yet.

Nominating Petitions are available from the Office of the Hudson County Clerk Elections Division. The petitions can be picked up between 8:30 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m. at 257 Cornelison Avenue on the 4th Floor in Jersey City.

Candidates filing a nominating petition for Board membership must a number of qualifications. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, must be 18 years of age, must be able to read and write, must be a resident of the municipality for at least one year before the date of the election, must not be disqualified pursuant to state regulations, must be a registered voter in the district, must not hold the office of mayor or member of the governing body, must not be disqualified due to a conviction of a crime or offense per regulations, and must not have any interest in any contract with or claim against the board.
