Hoboken moves forward with plans for fourth resiliency path

Hoboken announced that the city is moving forward with their plans for a new resiliency park at 800 Monroe Street, with a public planning process planned for the fall to gain community input. The 1.43 acre park is proposed by the city to withhold over half a million gallons of stormwater to mitigate flooding.

The project team will launch a project website in the coming months to inform those throughout the process.

Former Jersey City resident returns overdue book more than 80 years later

Former Jersey City resident Bob Jablonski returned an overdue library book to the Jersey City Free Public Library more than 80 years later after checking it out in 1947 when he was 14-years-old. The book was “Hitler” by Oden Rudolph, a novel warning the world about Adolf Hitler, and was returned in perfect condition with its original reference card.

Secaucus is collecting school supply and used uniform donations

Secaucus is collecting supplies for students in need before they head back to school in September. The Secaucus Department of Social Services is currently collecting school supplies for children in 1st to 12th grade.

The town is asking for the following school supplies: backpacks, notebooks, composition books, pencils, pens, Elmer’s glue, rulers, erasers, scissors, and crayons. The donations will be accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 145 Front Street. There will be a special drop off day on Saturday, August 13.

Alleged drug mill busted by state police

New Jersey State Police have arrested three men for their roles in operating a drug mill out of a residence in West New York and using a residence in Union City to support his operation. Police arrested Richard Stroman Jr., a 38-year-old of North Arlington; Jose Acosta, a 37-year-old of Hoboken; and Miguel Carrasco-Lara, a 35-year-old of Lyndhurst; for various drug offenses.
