The giveaway is hosted by the city of Bayonne, Mayor James Davis, the Bayonne Interfaith Association, BCB Bank, the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Bayonne, and WTCares. Patterson said the event has also received donations and support from other organizations and individuals within Bayonne as well.

The event aims to provide backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need ahead of the school year. Providing this support is especially important considering inflation, COVID-19, and other ongoings.

Inside the backpacks, Patterson said there will also be masks. In addition, there will be other important information and resources. She continued: “There will be school supplies such as pencils, crayons, paper, things of that nature inside the backpacks.”
