Award-winning Nimbus Dance to perform next at Summer Concerts on the Hudson

The concert is Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m.

Called “Astonishing in its understated intensity” by the Star-Ledger, Nimbus Dance creates a dazzling experience of artistry, romance, and virtuosity.

Nimbus Dance is an award-winning contemporary dance company at the forefront of excellence in the arts and civic engagement.  The company was founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Samuel Pott and is based in Jersey City.  With a repertoire of over thirty works, Nimbus performs on tour nationally and throughout the greater New Jersey/New York region, impacting 16,000 people annually.

In September 2020, Nimbus opened the Nimbus Arts Center, a 15,000 square foot center with theater, gallery, and studio spaces that is the largest dance-based arts center in the State of New Jersey.

Bruce Sherman, who produces Summer Concerts on the Hudson, is excited to present one of New Jersey’s artistic treasures.  “The Hudson River is a wonderful backdrop for dance and it’s a breathtaking experience to see the beauty of the human form front and center on our stage.  Our audience can look forward to an evening of highly physical and emotionally gripping dance.”

Dance selections will include Samuel Pott’s iconic “Patch of Turf,” Dawn Marie Bazemore’s jazzy “After Party” set to the music of Nancy Wilson and Nina Simone,

Pedro Ruiz’s breezy, Cuban-infused contemporary ballet, “Danzon”, and Yoshito Sakuraba’s mysterious and enchanting “Avenoir.”

This performance is scheduled for Saturday, September 10th at 7 PM.  All shows for the series take place at Lincoln Harbor Park, located just north of the Chart House restaurant, directly on the west bank of the Hudson River in Weehawken, New Jersey.  The concert is weather permitting.
