The North Bergen Health Department is offering free rabies vaccines, Mayor Nicholas Sacco has announced.
The vaccines will be administered on Wednesday, September 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the EMS building at 1814 43rd Street.
The vaccine will be administered by Dr. Carlos Triana from Summit Animal Clinic. Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier accompanied by an adult who must be able to place the animal on the examining table.
All North Bergen dogs and cats must be licensed. Licenses can only be issued with a rabies vaccination certificate.
The license fee is $8 if spayed or neutered or $11 if unaltered. Cash, checks or money orders will be accepted. Checks must be made payable to the Township of North Bergen.
There is no cure for rabies, so vaccination is critical. According to the township, licensing ensures a safe return should they ever get lost.
For more information, contact the North Bergen Health Department at 201-392-2084 or go to the township’s website at northbergen.org.
