Lantern Fly destruction

Dear Editor:

One of my favorite places to walk is the bridge in 16th park. There was a huge willow tree I sadly watched devoured by these insects till it became a skeleton. It was then I started noticing countless trees and foliage being destroyed. They will never bloom or seed again. Other than the public stepping on them what is being done. Are the countless “trash” trees that allow them to breed being destroyed. Is there spraying. How sad to see such destruction when it can be controlled.
