Bayonne police have been busy lately, dealing with everything from an alleged groping, to a stabbing, to shots fired.
Man charged over allegedly groping woman
Officers have arrested 67-year-old Czelaw Moscicki of Bayonne for allegedly groping a woman on September 19, according to Captain Eric Amato.
Moscicki was taken into custody at 9:42 a.m. from the area of 43rd Street and Broadway. Officers responded to an apartment complex in the area on a report of a female who had just been groped by a male.
According to the 59-year-old female victim, as she was ascending the stairs leading to her apartment, a male later identified as Moscicki past her and allegedly grabbed her chest. Officers located Moscicki still at the scene and began an investigation, according to authorities.
The investigation resulted in Moscicki being positively identified as the suspect and he was taken into custody and charged accordingly, police said. He was charged with Criminal Sexual Contact.
Teen alleged stabs other teen during fight
Also on September 19, a 15-year-old female juvenile was taken into custody after allegedly being identified as the perpetrator of an aggravated assault that occurred on September 16.
According to the female juvenile victim, the two engaged in a mutual fight. During the fight, the juvenile suspect allegedly retrieved a knife from her bag and proceeded to strike the victim with it on her leg, causing a laceration.
The resulting investigation resulted in the juvenile female being identified and charged accordingly. She was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Alleged shots fired on East 31st Street
On September 18, police arrested 28-year-old Jay Romero of Bayonne after shots were allegedly fired.
Romero was taken into custody at 12:31 a.m. from the area of East 22nd Street. Officers responded to the area of East 31st Street on reports of shots fired.
The perpetrator, later allegedly identified as Romero, was observed fleeing the area in a white pick-up truck towards Prospect Avenue. Officers immediately began an investigation and learned that Romero and another male met in the area, according to authorities.
During the meet, Romero allegedly fired two shots toward an empty lot before the two fled the area, police said. A canvas of the area resulted in officers locating the suspect pick-up truck occupied by only Romero in the area of East 22nd Street a short while after the incident.
The on-scene investigation resulted in Romero being positively identified as the individual who fired the shots, according to police. No firearm was recovered, but Romero was charged with Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose.
The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
