North Bergen to hold annual Halloween Home Decoration Contest

The deadline is Friday, October 21 at midnight

The Halloween Home Decoration Contest will return this October for North Bergen residents, Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners have announced.

Everyone is invited to participate. Residents are encouraged to dress up their house in its Halloween spookiest.

Afterwards, participants must submit photos, address, and contact information to the township. Send submissions by email to CommunityAffairs@NorthBergen.org or call 201-392-2157 to join the competition.

The township wants residents to show it what they’ve got this Halloween season. Participants could walk away with a prize, which in years past has included a gift card for $100 for first place, with $75 going to second place and $50 to third.

The deadline is Friday, October 21 at midnight. Prizes will be given out at the Trunk or Treat on October 29.

Other Halloween festivities planned for October

In addition to the Home Decoration Contest and Trunk or Treat, other Halloween events announced by the township thus far include a celebration at the main branch of the North Bergen Free Public Library. Beginning at 4 p.m. on October 28, residents are invited to join the main library for a spooky night featuring a magic show, free food, and goodie bags. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

‘Tis the season to be spooky.

On the same day, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a Teen Halloween Movie Event also hosted by the North Bergen Free Public Library. The Woman in Black will be screened at the main library for teens ages 13 and up.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and towel for the event where refreshments will be served. The main branch of the library is located at 8411 Bergenline Avenue. For more information on library events, go to nbpl.org or call 201-869-4715.
