On November 29, local business owners and colorectal cancer advocates Bob and Marlene Ceragno will host their annual “No-Shave November” Shave-Off event in North Bergen.
The event raises awareness and funds for Fight Colorectal Cancer (Fight CRC) at their Eye Contact Vision Center in the township. When Bob was diagnosed with colon cancer, his life turned upside down.
“I suspected something was wrong,” Bob said. “I scheduled a colonoscopy, which revealed I had stage II colon cancer. I had surgery to remove part of my colon and endured chemo and radiation.”
Since then, Bob has been educating the community about the importance of early detection. Bob and Marlene have owned Eye Contact Vision Center for the past 20 years and have been hosting their annual “No-Shave November” event for the past six.
“Together, alongside first responders and community members, we’ve raised over $150K,” said Bob.
In 2021, “No-Shave November” support showed up in force and in person for the first time following the COVID-19 pandemic. After putting down their razors November 1, fuzzy faces from The North Bergen Police Department, North Bergen Department of Public Works, Hudson County First Responders, and the Guttenberg Police Department gathered November 30, 2021, to wind down “No-Shave November” at the Ceragno’s Shave-Off event.
Fight CRC said it is proud to be one of the charity partners selected to receive dollars raised by No-Shave November in 2022. This is the eighth consecutive year No-Shave November, a 501(c)3 organization that raises money by encouraging individuals to “ditch the razors” each November, has chosen to support Fight CRC.
According to Fight CRC, the North Bergen community continues to uplift and amplify the cause of raising awareness and funds for the organization, and the Ceragnos continue to pay forward the kindness shown to them.
