The Hoboken Shelter’s 19th Annual Auction, a holiday tradition in the Hoboken community, kicks off with a virtual auction option opening from December 9 to 14 on the Greater Giving website.

It culminates with a live auction celebration on the evening of December 14 at modern and upscale Birch in downtown Hoboken. The live auction event will include cocktails and small bites as well as the chance to bid on valuable prizes being auctioned off by legendary MC Eugene Flinn.

Shelter Executive Director Jaclyn Cherubini is excited for the arrival of the Annual Auction.

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at our auction at Birch, to toast our 40th Anniversary, and of course, continue to raise essential funding to end hunger and homelessness together in our community,” she said.

This year has been a busy one for the Shelter. Celebrating its 40th anniversary caring for the city’s most vulnerable, the Shelter continues its work serving 500 meals daily, safely housing 50 people nightly, hosting 1000 showers weekly, and providing a full range of supportive services that transform lives.

Many of the Shelter’s former guests go on to work in town and contribute to the same community that helped them get back on their feet. Proceeds from the 19th Annual Auction will allow the Shelter to continue its mission of ending homelessness and hunger one person at a time.

Auction Committee Chair Laura O’Brien and Shelter volunteers are already busy collecting sponsorships and donations.

“I’m always overwhelmed by the generosity of those around us. Being together to celebrate the works of the Hoboken Shelter is a great way to acknowledge our volunteers, shelter staff and donors,” she added.

Tickets for the live auction celebration are available for purchase online and at the door of Birch the evening of the event for $40 per person. Tickets are also a bonus for several of the sponsorship levels that are still available to interested donors.

Top auction items this year include two autographed guitars from New Jersey native and superstar, Jon Bon Jovi, a romantic weekend getaway at the W Hotel, a Spirit Cruise dinner on the Hudson River, and valuable gift cards to popular Hoboken shops and restaurants.
