Members of the North Bergen Police Department raised nearly $5,000 during “No Shave November” to support Fight CRC, a group committed to funding research and raising awareness of colorectal cancer, with each participating officer donating $50.

To help bring attention to the cause, police officers went unshaven for the entire month and made voluntary contributions to the charity. “No shave November” ended with Barbers Ed Barry and Rene Diaz, from The Jagged Edge Spa & Salon, shaving off the participants’ beards inside the Eye Contact Vision Center on Bergenline Avenue on Tuesday, November 29.

Eye Contact Vision Center’s owner Robert Ceragno, a colon cancer survivor, also participated in the shave off. Ceragno has been an outspoken supporter of Fight CRC, and for the past seven years, he has sponsored both the annual Shave-Off and No-Shave November.

The cause has had active support from the NBPD since the beginning, and officers look forward to it every year. Along with other participants, Chief Peter Fasilis and Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual grew out their beards, shaving it off, in support of the fight against cancer.
