Saint Peter’s University is bringing back a popular hands-on tech event that’s made for beginners. Around campus and the local community, people know it as a welcoming way to get a first taste of cybersecurity without needing any prior experience.
This is the university’s third Capture the Flag event for novices, and it is built around teamwork and learning. Participants will form teams and work through a series of puzzles that start simple and get harder over time. The goal isn’t just to compete—it’s to teach newcomers the basic tools and methods used in real hacking in a safe, educational setting. Expect practical, interactive challenges such as:
- logic and code puzzles
- digital scavenger hunts
- hands-on tech problems
- group tasks that require collaboration
The event will take place in person at Saint Peter’s University, 2641 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, New Jersey 07306, United States, right in the heart of the city where many community and academic events are regularly held.
Admission is completely free, with no tickets or fees required, making it easy for students, curious neighbors, and anyone interested in Science & Tech or High Tech to drop in and participate.
It runs for seven hours on March 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT, giving plenty of time for attendees to learn, work together, and explore the world of cybersecurity.
