Residents are invited to meet the Democratic candidates for New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 pm. NJ-08 for Progress has organized the public forum, which will be moderated by Assatta Mann and Ricky Castaneda of the Rutgers-Newark College Democrats. This is the first Congressional candidate forum to be held in advance of the June 2 Democratic primary.
Incumbent Rep. Albio Sires has been invited, as has challenger Hector Oseguera. Rep. Sires has represented the Eighth District since 2006. Oseguera, who works as an anti-money laundering specialist, announced his campaign for the seat in late 2019. Both candidates have completed questionnaires about their positions on key policies and issues, which can be found at: www.nj08forprogress.org.
Because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the forum will take place virtually. Members of the public still have the opportunity to submit questions at: http://bit.ly/NJ08forum, and may access the forum online at http://bit.ly/NJ08forumLIVE.
Event Cosponsors: Force the Issue NJ, Hudson County DSA, Hudson County Progressive Alliance, NJ Progressive Democrats of Union County, People’s Climate Collective, Rutgers-Newark College Democrats, and New Jersey Working Families.
